Flotationalsohasalowremovalefficiency(POobservedthisefficiencyintherangeofthirtytoforty percent)forstickiesandmicrostickies.Thedesignutilizedislessdependentonflotationandflotationchemistryfor bothinkandstickiesremovalwhencomparedtomostotherdeinkplantdesigns. Manyotherdeinkplantdesignshaveflotationpriortokneading(ordispersion),afterkneading(ordispersion)and/or flotationsystemsafterasecondarykneadingstage.Considerablecapitaldollarsaretiedupinflotationequipmentfor inkremovalwithpoorresultsforoverallstickiesremoval. ShinhamaFlotationCellsareutilizedinNHandWA.Afterflotationthestockisthensenttothesecond stageofwasherspriortoaKrimaDispersingSystem.Theseflotationcellsactuallyfunctionmuchlikeaverylarge reversecleanerwithairinjection. Itisouropinionthepulpqualityrequiredfortissueandtowelingapplicationstodaycanbeachievedfrommixed officewastewithoutflotationinthesystemifsmallcompromisesonsmalldirtlevelsbetweenprintingandwriting andtissuequalityaremade.Wealsobelievethatinthefutureflotationmaybecomeunnecessaryforprintingand writingqualitywithfurtherimprovementsinwashingandfiberrecovery. Flotationdeinkingcellsarecurrentlybeingmanufacturedanddistributed LamortFiberprep,Shinarna,ThemoBlackClawson,VoithSulzer,andWemco.
